In July 2008 the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) held its annual practical research for education Conference. The theme of the conference was 'making a difference with research.'
The conference was supported by the National Union of Teachers

The conference
This one day conference gave delegates the chance to relate the findings of educational research to their own practice, explaining different methods of research and lending encouragement to those doing their own research, or about to embark on a project. Held in a convenient location in central London, we were delighted to have the support of the NUT, who were hosting the event at their headquarters. The event featured presentations, discussions and workshops.

The venue
The conference was held at Hamilton House, NUT Headquarters in London. Hamilton House offers quick and easy access to the many sights, delights and attractions of the capital and is a 5 minute walk away from Kings Cross tube station. research engaged schools
The contribution of research to school improvement has been a matter of considerable debate. It is widely argued that educational practice should be more evidence based, but it is acknowledged that this is not easy to achieve.
